An absorbent article comprising: a) a topsheet; b) a backsheet; c) an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet, the absorbent core comprising a core wrap enclosing an absorbent material comprising wood pulp and superabsorbent polymer particles; d) a disappearing wetness indicator; and e) a longitudinally extending channel-forming area that is substantially free of the wood pulp and superabsorbent polymer particles and through which a top side of the core wrap is attached to a bottom side of the core wrap; f) whereupon absorption of a liquid by the absorbent article, both: i.) a channel is formed along the channel-forming area, the channel becoming visible from an exterior of the article; and ii.) the disappearing wetness indicator becoming invisible or less discernible when looking at the backsheet.
